Strategy & Soul

AUTHOR
Daniel Hunter spent over a decade as an activist educator, teaching a vast array of activists in twelve countries on five continents. He’s trained Algonquin activists, Indonesian faith leaders, Korean pro-unification activists, Burmese pro-democracy leaders, and Sierra Leonean pastors.
Now, he’s bringing his lessons into a single narrative from a dramatic, bare-knuckles campaign: trying to stop two massive casinos on the Philadelphia riverfront.
The campaign challenged him to bring together fields he’s been learning: community organizing, direct action, facilitation, conflict resolution, popular education.
He still works full-time training activists for direct action as a trainer with Training for Change – and is regularly sought out by local and national groups, including folks fighting natural gas fracking, Greenpeace USA, The Yes Men, and Canadian unions wanting to deepen popular education.
